Il Tempo Del Postino
I am currently in Manchester at the Manchester International Festival, on my way to London. I am here for the occasion of Il Tempo Del Postino, new work curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Philippe Parreno. This group show disguised as an opera consists of new works by such artists as Doug Aitken, Matthew Barney, Olafur Eliasson, Douglas Gordon, Carsten Höller, Pierre Huyghe and Anri Sala. Instead of creating a ‘conventional’ exhibition in space, where visitors move from wall to wall, and from room to room, the curators were interested in what would happen if the artists were given time as their frame to work with. And thus these artists created works that we the audience experienced from our seats in the Manchester Opera House.
A very inspiring experience, and something I will try to write more about. First I will travel to London to see Tom Jenkinson and Evan Parker at the Southbank Centre. Quite an astonishing weekend this is.
