Pierre Bastien, Tom Jenkinson and Evan Parker at Cité de la Musique
This was truly a remarkable performance by Pierre Bastien, Tom Jenkinson and Evan Parker last Friday at Cité de la Musique in Paris. Three soloists with three different approaches to music: Bastien is the creator and director of an ‘Orchestre Mécanique’, a orchestra of automata, Jenkinson a virtuoso bassist playing composed songs of unthinkable finesse, and Evan Parker a Zen-musician circular-breathing his way into a musical Nirvana. A display of great craft, vision and imagination.
Note: this was not only the second performance of Jenkinson and Parker together in public, this was also just the second time they have played together at all. They have only met twice in person!
