«I don’t know if any of it makes sense»

«I don’t know if any of it makes sense,» says Bastien, «but it does to me.» Romantic radical Pierre Bastien is an interesting character. His music is experimental in the tradition of John Cage and Alvin Lucier, but he talks about music in the humble way of a devote amateur. Humble, but critical and experienced. He has been making music for a longer time than the other artists on Friday’s line up have been alive. And he has been playing with Tom Jenkinson, Aphex Twin, Pierre Henry and Evan Parker, a mind-boggling collection of musicians.

Read an interview with Pierre Bastien in this week’s Amsterdam Weekly (page 8 and 9).
