«I’ve never picnicked in a cemetery before, I like our new territory already.»
If you happen to be in Stockholm this week, do not miss the final opportunity to see the exhibition The Kingdoms of Elgaland-Vargaland Isola di San Michiele, at Gallery Niklas Belenius. This is another chapter in the ongoing bureaucratic artwork by Kings I and II, Carl Michael von Hausswolff and Leif Elggren, in collaboration with Jan Håfström and Marja Leena Sillanpää. The exhibition displays the documentation and imagination of Isola San Michele, the cemetery island that once belonged to Venice. The New York Times went along for the invasion on 8 June 2007, and (un)intentionally aided the propaganda of the newly annexed territory.
Edit: The exhibition ran through 9 March. This means last weekend was you last chance to visit it. However, Niklas Belenius will most likely show this work on future art fairs.
