Bass, beats and architecture
Just a quick reminder of three nights in the Netherlands this weekend. The monthly undance music night Beat Dimensions invites Rednose Distrikt with Aardvarck and Steven de Peven tomorrow night at the Flexbar in Amsterdam. This time host Cinnaman keeps it local and low profile with his friends from the Distrikt. If you are looking for friendly faces new bits of music, the Flexbar on Saturday is your destination.
If you want something more deterring and defying, visit the Netherlands Architecture Institute in Rotterdam on that same night. The Worm-hosted Lowriders have been invited by the NAI to programme the pavilion architect Wiel Arets has designed for a series of happenings (aptly titled ‹Happenings›). Artists of this night are Sweat X (SA), Anstam (D), Cane (NL), Red Elephant (NL), Nicon (NL), RuweData (NL), Beatnologic (NL) and Co2Ro (NL). A rather obscure line up that promises to test the foundation of the elegantly designed temporary space.
If you cannot wait for Saturday, do no hesitate to visit Lockdown, again at the Flexbar. With one of the more original line ups in the Netherlands so far in the dubstep genre. Forsaken, Hyetal and Joker hail from Bristol, whilst recent Hyperdub offspring Zomby comes over from London. Experimental club music as it should be - imaginative and contemporary.
