Introducing Smart Project Space

Careful followers of the electronic music movement in Amsterdam might have noticed the sudden appearance of Smart Project Space on the radar. With exhibitions of contemporary art, Smart has been open to the public for a few years, whilst preparing their costly makeover. Having transformed from a beautiful anatomic laboratory into an incredible multidisciplinary arts center, Smart has the potential to become Amsterdam’s most vibrant cultural institute. It has three film halls, one main room for performances and concerts, and six exhibition rooms. The restaurant is open everyday, the DJs in the bar are streamed live, and you can visit here on weekdays until 1 am, and in weekends until 3 am. Parties can go on even longer, but Smart has decided to start slowly, not stressing ongoing license-applications.
On Mondays DNK squats the main room with a concert series for new live electronic and acoustic music. Very soon the film programme will commence, ran by former AFX curator Nina Köll. Head of music programme Lawrence Dubrovich has invited Viral Radio to try out a few small events. This series will kick off with a Daedelus concert on Tuesday 21 October, followed by a full club night during the Museum Night on Saturday 1 November, and a Flying Lotus afterparty on Saturday 29 November.
More about this soon.
